Duck! Third Time is the Charm is a graphic novel that follows the misbegotten adventures of a group of lesbian friends over one Memorial Day weekend in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

The book will be 100(ish) pages, full color, and offset printed (not some lackluster digital print job). It’s already written, so while you are reading this Kickstarter and deciding what to donate, I’m already at work on the interior pages.

MILESTONE: ACHIEVED! For the first time in my life y’all, — I SOLD OUT!!– of the Holiday Reward Tier of my very first Kickstarter Campaign (WAHOO!)

MILESTONE: Check!
MILESTONE: Check!

And today we also passed another Milestone: This book is 20% funded! (HIP HIP HOORAY!) Just a meager little 80% to go. And none of it would have happened without YOUR generosity and support.

I am delighted to announce that i have teamed up with my West Coast publisher, NORTHWEST PRESS to offer a complete digital bundle of all the Duck! books! Downloadable versions of the first two books will be available to backers immediately once we successfully close this Kickstarter. A download code for Duck! Third Time is the Charm will be emailed out once production on the story wraps.

And speaking of production!

Here is a sneak peek at Duck! Third Time is the Charm:

It’s a work in progress but I am loving it.

In the final version there’ll be a nice golden light filtering through the trees. Ptown is really quite a lovely place.

What a thrill to get to draw comics and make stories that matter. Stories that I have wanted to see in this world for my whole life. Only now, with your help, we get to be making them together! #winning.

Just fantastic.

Risks and challenges

The book is already written, so, that’s good news. More good news is that, while this is my first Kickstarter, it is not the first time I have ever made a graphic novel from scratch. I’m old hat at delivering artwork and working on a deadline.

I have prepared reasonable time lines both for the art creation and for the book production/goal fulfillment. I’ve tried to anticipate the challenges that I will face but no system is perfect and unforeseen delays might arise — worry not, friends! This book will reach you!
