CALL FOR ACTION AND SUPPORT WOMEN ́S MARCH ON WHASHINGTON

Dear sisters and friends from the World March of Women

On January 21, 2017 women will unite in Washington, DC and across the United States for the Women’s March on Washington. We ask our sisters from around the world to join in organizing global solidarity actions that send a bold message to the incoming Trump administration in the US, and to all reactionary right-wing governments around the world that women will continue to stand up and fight no matter who is in power.

Trump rose to power by insulting, demonizing, and threatening so many people in the US. His targets included women, immigrants of all statuses, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native and Indigenous people, people of color, people with disabilities, the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault. His most avid supporters include white supremacists, and Trump is a threat to the sustainability of human life on our planet.

Trump’s rise to the Presidency is also in the context of the rise of right-wing and reactionary governments all over the world. We have seen how social movements and democratic rights have been attacked with the rise of these governments, and we are in solidarity with our sisters all over the world that have been at the forefront of these struggles.

Together, we must build a vibrant, broad resistance to the politics of hate and division that define this new US President and all reactionary governments.

We ask all World March of Women National Coordinating Bodies and supporters support this global call for all defenders of human rights, dignity, and justice to join us. Take action with us on January 21. We will stand united by love and defiance to continue moving toward the inclusive democracy and future we deserve.

Here is how you can take action:
1) Organize a march/demonstration in your own country with other women. You can register your event here: https://www.womensmarch.com/sisters Please also let us know if you plan on doing this so we can keep track as well.
2) If you cannot organize a march, you can take a photo holding a sign with the following hashtags: #womensmarch #globalwomen4justice
When you have taken the photo, please send it to helena@ggjalliance.org and info@marchemondiale.org or  via skype: helenaswong.
3) Write a solidarity statement from your country. Please make connections between right-wing governments and reactionary politics in your own country, and also what has been the impact of US militarism and imperialism on your country.

We will continue marching until we are all free!

In Athens there is a demonstration in front of the USA embassy. Organised by the feminist collective TO MOV – https://tomov.gr and many other feminist and social rights organisations. Some political organisations have called also.
