The organisations signing this text, we add our voices with the peace organisations all over the world, and we participate in our own way in the “Peace Wave”, asking the Greek government to sign the UN Convention for the total ban of nuclear weapons. We underline that Greece is a member of NATO, many of whose members possess nuclear weapons, while in the country itself many ships carrying nuclear weapons use the military base of Suda and there is concern for activities of this sort in the base of Araxos. Almost all NATO countries, except Holland, were opposed to signing UN Convention in October of 2016.
“Peace Wave” is an appeal for actions to encircle all the globe, linking the population of the world and asking all governments on earth to sigh the UN convention for the ban of nuclear weapons. The initiative was taken by HIBAKUSHA of Japan, survivors of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagashaki.
